Cancer Support Groups

Walk the walk with people who have been in your shoes because nobody other than someone who has been through it can completely understand what you are going through and that may even be true about your doctor. Give yourself all the support you need by finding a local support group you can join.

  • Lung Cancer Alliance – Search for local branches in your own community. You are not alone. Find the support and resources you need to make the journey easier.
  • Planet Cancer – Planet is a community of young adults with cancer. It’s a place to share insights, explore our fears, laugh, or even give the finger to cancer with others who just plain get it. We don’t deny the dark side of illness and death here. But we also firmly believe that laughter and light can turn up in the strangest places. Search for local branches in your own community.
  • National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship – NCCS advocates for quality cancer care for all people touched by cancer and provides tools that empower people to advocate for themselves. Founded by and for cancer survivors, NCCS created the widely accepted definition of survivorship and defines someone as a cancer survivor from the time of diagnosis and for the balance of life.
  • Susan G. Komen for the Cure® is the global leader of the breast cancer movement, having invested more than $1.9 billion since inception in 1982. As the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists, we’re working together to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures.
  • Imerman Angels carefully matches and individually pairs a person touched by cancer (a cancer fighter or survivor) with someone who has fought and survived the same type of cancer (a Mentor Angel).
  • Cancare – Cancer survivors of more than 50 different types of cancer volunteer for CanCare to provide emotional support to those currently facing a battle with cancer. A patient is matched with a CanCare volunteer for one-on-one emotional support based on a variety of criteria including cancer site, treatments, age and gender. Generally, support is provided over the phone and sometimes through email, and we encourage those who are matched with someone in the same geographical area to make an effort to meet in person.
  • ABCD – ABCD: After Breast Cancer Diagnosis was founded by a group of women – led by Melodie Wilson – who realized that having breast cancer is about much more than biopsies, surgery and chemotherapy. Most of ABCD’s founders are breast cancer survivors who discovered that the most valuable information and support came from others in similar life circumstances with similar experiences with the disease. Not everyone diagnosed with breast cancer knows where to find that kind of help. That’s where ABCD comes in.
  • LBBC – Living Beyond Breast Cancer (LBBC) is dedicated to assisting you, whether you are newly diagnosed, in treatment, recently completed treatment, are years beyond or are living with metastatic breast cancer.
